Well, those cigar box thin 618 cabs are widely touted as the preferred box for 755A by a couple highly-visible Japanese experts I know.

I had one original 618 with a few minor cosmetic defects that I listened to for a while and sold for $400 BIN, snatched up by a horny Korean buyer in about 10 minutes.

This paid for a pair of custom built cabs to more or less the same spec, a half case of Mohawk clear gloss lacquer, and a 12 pack of Sierra Nevada. Seems fair to me, although maybe I should have held out for TWO 12 packs.

Spent this past weekend in the back yard spraying the suckers. Wish I could shoot that cool Altec hammered silver but I'll settle for Swedish ghetto Ikea-looking clear for now. Maybe I'll overspray them with a cool 1950s Fender stratocaster custom color down the line...shell pink seems about right.

The original 618s are beautiful industrial art if you're as weird as some of us but I'm not a collector, just a user. I got tired of waiting for a second piece for stereo, the original rattled a bit, plus I like to have unique stuff that I had a hand in constructing. Also, this will be my first chance to try out my group buy Altec decals.

Here are a few pics of my project...minus the empty 12 oz IPA bottles...it was hot out there.
